The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch built himself in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. Not even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck showcased in the tenth season. Rather, players will obtain the family's everyday well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic symbol of the series. And for players who pay attention to Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only cosmetic from the series arriving in the game. The event will also include a set of objectives to earn additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also get rims featuring a television displaying the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the major Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of Springfield, in addition to a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
