Major Web Outage Impacts Many Sites and Mobile Apps
A widespread internet disruption has impacted numerous websites and apps globally, with users reporting issues getting online following issues at Amazon’s online infrastructure service.
The disrupted platforms comprise the social media app Snapchat, Roblox, Signal, and Duolingo, along with multiple Amazon-owned platforms including its key e-commerce site and the Ring doorbell company.
Across the United Kingdom, Lloyds bank was disrupted along with its branches the bank Halifax and Bank of Scotland, and also reports of difficulties reaching the HM Revenue and Customs site on the start of the week. Additionally in Britain, multiple Ring customers turned to social media to report their security devices were failing.
Solely in the United Kingdom, notifications of issues on particular apps reached the thousands for each platform.

Cisco’s Thousand Eyes, a tool that tracks online failures, additionally noted a surge in issues on that morning, and numerous instances found in the state of Virginia, the site of the AWS US-East-1 zone where the company stated the problems started.
